A Flame Mahogany Biedermeier Vienna Wall Regulator, Circa 1850

A fine quality true Viennese regulator wall clock made by Josef Lorenz in Wien, circa 1850.

A fine quality flame mahogany early Biedermeier Viennese Regulator wall clock, circa 1850 in the earlier style five light case design with an arched top. The beautifully proportioned mahogany case inlaid throughout with contrasting boxwood stringing.

The one piece enamelled dial with Roman numerals, signed to the dial centre with makers names Josef Lorenz in Wien, surrounded by an ornate gilded cast pie crust brass bezel.

The fully restored fine quality eight day duration movement of the highest quality with deadbeat escapement and slide beat adjustment.

Polished brass cased weight, with ornate spoked pulley, polished brass bob pendulum (front and back) with polished steel rod.

Finely fretted blued steel hands, of beetle and poker design.

Original winding key.

A beautifully made clock of elegant and restrained proportions typical of the early Biedermeier period, in fine original condition.

This type of Viennese regulator wall clock were entirely hand made by a time served master clockmaker and were only made for the most discerning customers and took many months to complete individually.

All of our clocks have been sympathetically restored and have been expertly vetted for originality and good working order. All clocks purchased from us are guaranteed for twelve months.

All of our clock movements are restored by our horologist who works exclusively for us.

Our horologist is a Fellow of the British Horological Institute (FBHI), having 35 years of full time professional engagement in the repair & restoration of clocks, watches, music boxes & barometers. He was the recipient of the 1977 Worshipful Company of Clockmakers Bronze Medal.
