BARYE: a fine, small and well documented original BRONZE SCULPTURE of a mountain goat, by this famous and highly regarded 'animalier' sculptor.

Beautifully modelled and finely cast, it is one of his earliest works and is signed by both the artist and the foundry. 3.75 x 2 x 2.75high ins (9.5 x 5 x 7cms).

***Antoine Louis BARYE (1796-1875) was a sculptor of romantic realism who is particularly well known for his realistic depictions of animals. Such was his fame that he was regarded as one of the greatest ~ and certainly most influential ~ animal life artists of the renowned French Animalier School.
