Description

Superb quality, unusually low late 19th.c. ebonised cabinet by the Liverpool cabinet makers Rumney & Love c.1880. Just 22" tall and fitted inside with four half width shelves, probably originally intended for the storage of sheet music big enough for filing sheets of A4 paper. Panelled doors with crisp mouldings and fine carved floral detail to the centre panel. Original gilded brass door fittings, carry handles and black ceramic castors. Panelled sides and rear. Maker’s stamp to the top of the right hand door. Quite a bit of old wear to the top, impressed marks and scratches which are obvious when they catch the light. Otherwise very good condition, cleaned and polished in our workshops. Note the shelves are loose so can be easily removed if preferred. Would also make an ideal television stand.
