This is a lovely example of a solid sterling silver-topped pin cushion.
It is clearly hallmarked on the side for London 1908, with the maker''s mark of the highly esteemed silversmith, William Comyns.
It is designed as a cushion with bows on the corners. The silver top is in excellent condition. It comes free from cushion by way of a release button, which means that the velvet cushion has none of the usual silver polish stains on it. There is a patent number on the tab which inserts into the cushion, to hold it in place. This is a pretty and tactile item.
