Novelty Edwardian Silver Needle, Thimble and Thread Travelling Case by Horton & Allday, Birmingham 1905

Description

This unusual Edwardian silver travelling sewing case is dated Birmingham 1905 and bears the marks of Horton & Allday. Of plain cylindrical form with inner bobbin wheel incorporating a needle case and thimble holder. This is a cleverly designed and still very functional silver piece. All parts are separately hallmarked.

Hallmarks:

H&A for Horton & Allday

Date letter "f" for 1905.

Birmingham Assay mark.

Lion Passant.

Dimensions:

Height: 6cm / 2.2 inches.

Diameter: 2cm / 0.6 inches.

Condition:

Silver case in excellent condition with no dings or dents.

Inner bobbin/needle/thimble holder in equally good condition.

Good set of hallmarks.
