Elmgarden has dated this piece to the 17th Century.
This is a lovely old piece, with a superb patina, the chest has three geometrically carved panels on the front set into carved borders and on the heavy top of the coffer there are 3 deep moulded panels

The inside the Coffer is clean and has blacksmith made iron iron staple hinges, the coffer is in good condition for its age, although there is a small piece of the moulding missing, it seems this has been lost a long time ago. There is one bonus with this coffer, it has a working lock and key

The coffer is 27” high, 50” long and 23” deep
