The Grovelly Chest
Here we have this leather covered and brass studded linen chest.
The brass shaped decorative plates to the exterior are original to this piece.

The top and front, with panels of quilted leather, decorative studwork with brass capped nails. The sides also with brass plate carrying handles, and finishing on turned mahogany feet.
In the Regency period and also the Elizabethan era this type of work was very popular, but even then, only afforded by the very wealthy.

More than 3500 studs were patiently tapped in by hand, by our own craftsperson. A laborious task, but the finished product created tremendous pride in the final finish of this unique chest.
This blanket box is a one off, and cannot be repeated. It is unique to Hingstons, and therefore cannot be purchased anywhere else in the world.
