Andrew Cox Antiques has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
The lid is decorated with a cabochon garnet, replicated in the serpent's eyes. The lid opens to reveal a fully gilded interior and the original peg stopper. Serpent scent bottles are rare items, usually found in clear glass and a ruby example is most uncommon. Dimensions below.

Condition :- The glass is excellent with no chips or cracks. The silver has one small blemish beneath the hinge (shown in the photographs) commensurate with age and use.
