Antique Solid Silver Georgian 3-part Wine Funnel

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: The Silver Cabinet

This is a wonderful example of a solid sterling silver wine funnel, dating from the reign of George III

All three parts of the funnel have corresponding hallmarks for London 1814 and the maker''s mark of Charles Fox. It is unusual to find a complete 3-part wine funnel from this period. The design is plain and un-engraved. The tang - the tab which hooks over the punch bowl or decanter - is firmly attached and well-shaped. The muslin ring, for fine straining, has a series of holes so the muslin can be secured in place. It is in excellent condition.
