Description

A fine French carriage clock by Japay Freres. Caryatid stylised female figures to the four columns. A rococo style case with figures to the carrying handle. An enamel dial with 'moon' blued steel hands and subsidiary alarm dial. An 8-day duration mechanism striking the 1/2 hours and hours on a bell. Separate spring for alarm work and push button repeating through the top glass panel. Signed in the oval to the backplate 'Japay Freres Med. Honneur 1855'. Numbered 22. The original lever escapement. The original carrying box.
