Description

This interesting and rare VICTORIAN PARIAN WARE BUST entitled 'R.B.D. WELLS' is inscribed A.L. VAGO Sc LONDON 1880 to the back.

'PROFESSOR' R.B.D. WELLS practiced PHRENOLOGY in SCARBOROUGH and was the Author of 'Vital Force, or Evils and Remedies of Perverted Sexuality'.

The Sculptor, AMBROSE LEWIS VAGO, was both a published PHRENOLOGIST and MODELLER.

The BUST is in overall good condition. There is a firing fault on the left side of the neck which has occured during the making. This is quite stable.
