A fine and large highly captivating MARINE OIL PAINTING on CANVAS in good condition in the manner of George Clarkson Stanfield and possibly by him?.

Beautifully painted, it depicts a busy maritime scene on a blustery but bright day. A sizeable vessel can be seen in the foreground being hailed by some men in a rowing boat, whilst in the background are other boats bobbing about on the waves with a harbour on the distant shoreline.

***Apparently unsigned but with an old applied plaque stating" "George Clarkson Stanfield 1828-1858". 45ins x 31ins (114 x 79cms) including the ornate gilt frame.
