An Edwardian hallmarked sterling silver inkwell made by William Hutton & Sons, assayed in Sheffield in 1901. It has a serial number ''Z5542'' to the underside.
Both the inkwell and stand have a reed and ribbon border. The inkwell''s silver lid is hallmarked to both the lid and collar. It has a glass body with a cut hobnail base. The stand has a recess for a pen and is raised on three supports which also bear the reed and ribbon border.
The condition is generally good. There are a couple of nibbles to the edges of the glass. There are some small scratches and surface marks to the silver.
The silver stand weighs 135g, and it weighs 358g with the inkwell.
