Hobson May Collection has dated this piece to the 18th Century.
The ground is profusely decorated with further flowers and C and S scrolls in underglaze blue and over glaze iron red and gilt. The domed cover has a distinctive iron red Komainu finial. The condition of the vase is good with no chips, the surface decoration is in good condition. There is is evidence of a firing crack to the domed cover, this is minor and is shown clearly in the photographs. This is not detrimental to the appearance of this outstanding piece of ceramic art.
