Description

A Scottish Victorian period mercury stick barometer. A well carved pediment and bevelled glass to the dial. The original vernier scale adjuster to the mahogany case. A mercury thermometer to the case middle and the original carved cistern cover to the base. The dial is signed 'White & Barr, Glasgow'

James White of Glasgow was in partnership with Barr from 1857-1859 and worked at Renfield Street and Gordon Street. He was instrument maker to the University of Glasgow. Circa 1858.
