It opens to reveal the chronometer itself, set within brass gymbals, with locking bar and original ratcheted key. The 56-hour movement has an engraved & silvered dial; with subsidiary "Up-and-Down" and seconds dials, whilst both movement and case are numbered: 3094.
Bryer & Sons were Ship's Chandlers who worked in the Minories from 1878-1888.
