Elmgarden has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
This is the traditional shape of a Dairy table, the 2” thick plank top has a pointed end and there is a gulley around the edge which gets deeper as it reaches the drain hole and so allows the whey to be collected beneath.

The table is in bare wood, it has never been painted or polished, it would look fantastic if it was polished this would really enhance the beautiful elm grain if you wished to use it as a kitchen dining table, but we have left it in original condition. It is sound and sturdy with no sign of woodworm

The table is 29” high, 101” long and 34” wide, it stands on refectory style base with full length stretcher and it would seat 10 diners
