William IV Mahogany 16 Seat Dining Table

18th century
Description

William IV mahogany 16 seat dining table

Here we have this magnificent extending dining table, that extends to take 4 extra leaves.

This table can be used with the leaves taken out, or with any combination of the extra inserts. This makes this table very versatile.

This table was made in the workshops of one of the most prominent cabinetmakers in the day James Winter, 101 Wardour Street, Soho, London

James Winter and Sons were in 101 Great Wardour Street between 1823 and 1840. They then moved to larger premises.

James Winter furniture is well known to be of the highest quality in this period.

Items of Winters furniture are in the C. Gilbert book,  Marked London Furniture.

The table is fitted with 8 solid mahogany turned legs, that end with the original brass cup rolling castors.

The table has a telescopic sliding action that pulls smoothly, to receive each extra leaf. The table has brass table forks that secure the tables top.

In the last  images you will see that the table comes into 2 sections that can be placed against a wall

This high quality table would have been made for one of London’s grand homes, and imagine the parties and events that would have been held around this fine table.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
