Nice Quality Pair Of Japanese Mixed Metal Menuki - Horses

As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer the second of a selection of Edo period (1615 - 1868) mixed metal Menuki ( Sword fittings ), this pair of Menuki depict opposing prancing horses, the first is made from Shakudo with gilt highlights for the tack, the other formed of Shibuichi with its tail highlighted in Silver and again the tack in Gilt, Menuki were formed as Mixed metal ornaments, usually in pairs, and were bound beneath the silk handles of Samurai swords, as decoration or lucky charms.
 
Condition Report: In good used condition with some age related wear.
