As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer another rare and unusual 18th century Edo period (1615-1868) Ivory Netsuke depicting Hotei , the lucky God of good fortune, this charming Netsuke depicts Hotei at rest upon his treasure sack whilst seated upon an oriental table, his right hand upon his knee , his rather large belly out for all to see, the base of the table forming the Himotoshi, a finely detailed early Netsuke that bears all the signs of being well used , lovely patination and multiple age hairlines .
