Fine Quality Japanese Mixed Metal Menuki - After Iwamoto Ryokan

As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer the first of a selection of Edo period (1615 - 1868) mixed metal Menuki ( Sword fittings ), the first depicts a vibrant striped fish worked in Bronze and Silver with the eye detailed with Mother of Pearl, Gold and Shakudo, although unsigned very similar in style to the work of the Edo period Metalworker Iwamoto Ryokan, Menuki were formed as Mixed metal ornaments, usually in pairs, and were bound beneath the silk handles of Samurai swords as decoration and lucky charms, see other example below.
