A really wonderful Victorian visiting card case made from stunning tortoiseshell with highly decorative markings and colours ranging from golden champagne to deep chocolate brown. The finish is clean and glossy showing off the beauty of the shell.

There is intricate fine silver string inlay creating diamond shaped lozenges.

The hinge and push button mechanism are both in great shape and the interior edges are trimmed in creamy Ivory.

Dating to around 1860, it remains in excellent condition measuring 4" x 2 7/8".
