Antique Waltham Silver Pocket Watch with Chain

An antique Waltham silver pocket watch with chain.

The watch has a key-wound movement which is working nicely. The movement is fully signed and the serial number 2,552,451 dates it back to 1884. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch itself measures 51mm diameter excluding the stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks in both of the back covers for Birmingham 1885. We believe, even though the hallmarks tie up nicely with the age of the movement, that the movement and case are not original to each other. There is a slight indentation to the case back and some damage around the hole to the movement.

The watch glass is in good condition.

The signed white enamel dial has a couple of hairline cracks but they are faint. Blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track.

The watch comes with a hallmarked single silver chain, 35.5cm long including the T-bar and the clasp. Also a silver fob, hallmarked for 1900.

The watch and chain will be sent in a new presentation box.
