Timberhill Gallery has dated this piece to the Regency era.
He is recorded as having given evidence for the procecution at the Old Bailey 15th September 1825 following the theft from his shop on Great Russel Street.

The clock is a twin fusee movement, striking on a bell the hour. The dial a simple cream base signed James Tupman, Gt Russel St Blooms Bury. The gas e rosewood with two top corner spandrels and a central floral spray.
Ormolu handles and finial.
