1918 Silver Limit Half Hunter Pocket Watch & Chain

A 1918 silver Limit half hunter pocket watch with unusual albert.

The watch has a stem-winding Revue-Thommen movement, made for and signed Limit, which is working nicely. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the case backs for London (import mark) 1918. The case has nice crisp engine turned detail to both the front and back, and blue enamel filled Roman numerals around a small lens to the front. There is a hint of a small indentation to the back, and a little of the enamel infill is missing.

The small glass lens has a small chip underneath, not too noticeable at all to the naked eye.

The winding crown pushes in to open the front cover. Inside there is an acrylic lens which is in good condition. If original glass lenses broke, they were often replaced with acrylic as it is much more durable.

The signed dial is in lovely condition and has blued steel hands, including the special half hunter hour hand so the time can be read even when the front cover is closed. Subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute track.

The watch comes on an interesting silver chain which measures 33cm long in total. The T-bar has been adapted, a long time ago, from an antique watch key which is in the form of a horse’s hoof. It sits well with the hunter pocket watch and makes an interesting item.

The watch and chain will be sent in a new presentation box.
