Stunning Victorian Card Case - Taylor & Perry – 1848

A fabulously decorated Solid Silver Card Case made by the well-known and sought after silversmiths, Joseph Taylor & John Perry, in 1848.

Of shaped oblong form with an all over engine turned pattern to the front which is bordered by superbly engraved scroll work of flowers and scrolls with a central bordered blank cartouche. To the rear side there is a magnificent engraved basket of flowers within a central cartouche bordered by a C-scroll and Acanthus Leaf border - fabulous !

The Card Case is the right size for today's business and credit cards, has no added engravings, monograms or initials, the lid closes tightly, and whilst there is a few signs of wear this lovely piece is in superb condition despite being almost 170 years old.

This is a real collector's item made by a master craftsman which would complement any collection.

Some very minor surface wear / marks and some minor dinks to the corners.

There are no repairs.

Note: The hinge is slightly lose when open but the lid closes tightly.

Considering this is almost 170 years old it is in excellent condition.
