A superb George V solid silver Sugar Shaker/Caster. Beautifully formed, the upper part of the body has a lovely wavy shape. Underneath this wavy line is a protruding beaded edge. The lower part of the body is decorated with the most exquisite swags and bows. The attractive lid has an unusually designed fret work to allow for the flow of the sugar with a neat ball finial on the top. When the lid is lifted clear hallmarks and maker''s marks are revealed for The London Assay Office with a date mark for 1911 along with the Lion Passant for sterling silver and the maker''s marks for Millar Wilkinson. These hallmarks can also be seen on the side of the Caster, just below the neck. It sits on a nice square foot and is level and sturdy.
