Description

A delightful rich coloured solid Oak wood letters box dating to the late Victorian period, around 1880.

The two compartments are marked to identify their use .. one side for the " Post " for the household staff to take letters to be mailed and " Delivery " for letters to be hand delivered. These boxes were found in hotels, private clubs and the smartest of private residences.

The back and front are decorated with polished brass pierced or reticulated galleries.

Excellent condition, measuring 10" x 3 1/2" x 5 3/4".
