Description

A handsome English Victorian solid oak letter box with two compartments with a polished brass panel to the front engraved "Post" and "Delivery".

The brass panel is pierced or reticulated; these boxes would have been present in large country houses, a member of the household staff would have emptied the contents and taken the letters either to the Post Office or hand delivered.

Dating to c.1880, it remains in excellent condition. 9 3/4" x 4 1/4" x 5 1/4" tall.
