Late 19th.c. Gilt Overmantle Mirror C.1880

Description

Impressive late 19th.c. gilt overmantle mirror c.1880. Standing over six feet tall the mirror is easily big enough to be used on the floor as a full length dressing mirror in a bedroom or frock shop perhaps. Arch top 49" x 69" mirror plate within a gilded wooden frame with elaborate moulded details flanked with a fine pair of fluted columns with Corinthian capitals. Scrolling acanthus leaf brackets at the base and topped with a pair of urn shaped finials. Original gilding, mellowed with age and worn in places but no signs of re-touching. Later mirror plate, original backboards.
