Antique Furniture Direct has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
The seat is upholstered in a dark green coloured velvet style fabric. With paper label underneath reading: “Marsh, Jones & Cribb (Late Kendal & Co)” with the workers name written in pencil. This is quiet a low chair so would make an ideal dressing table chair or bedroom chair. Dating from circa 1895.

Marsh, Jones & Cribb were a prestigious 19th Century cabinet makers, known for producing high quality furniture and their close association with leading designers of the Victorian era such as Charles Bevan, Bruce Talbert and W.R. Lethaby. Originally established as Marsh & Jones circa 1850 in Leeds, they later expanded to Cavendish Square London and becoming Marsh, Jones & Cribb in 1867.

Good condition. Solid and sturdy. Beautiful patina and figuring to the mahogany. The upholstery is old but in good condition, a little worn and some marks commensurate with age. Wheels on castors do not rotate.
