Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Victorian mirror-backed credenza is a low storage cabinet developed during the 19th century, featuring an integrated mirror reflective plate mounted above a flat top. Designed for dining rooms or reception spaces, these pieces typically combine central cupboard storage with open side shelving for displaying ceramics and glassware.

Victorian cabinetmakers frequently used figured timber veneers such as burr walnut, mahogany, and rosewood applied over solid pine or oak frames. Decoratively cut mirror glass, cast brass hardware, and intricate stringing or marquetry inlays were also standard construction elements.

Authentic 19th-century pieces display hand-carved details, hand-cut dovetail joints, original mirror silvering, and natural shrinkage marks in the veneer. Examination of the rear backboards usually reveals hand-sawn timber panels rather than modern plywood or particle board.

A Victorian credenza serves as a focal point in hallways, dining spaces, or living rooms. The top surface can host modern ceramics, contemporary lighting, or minimalist glassware to create a balanced contrast against the detailed timber grain.

Keep the timber away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent veneer lifting and colour bleaching. Regular dusting with a soft microfiber cloth and periodic applications of clear beeswax polish help preserve the original finish.
