M Lees and Sons has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
The concave shield-shaped back heavily and skilfully carved with open splat and carved neo-classical details and motifs , swags , leaves and fluting . The shaped swept arms with carved leaf terminals and wheatsheaf detail . The frame of the seat with carved fluted detail and the whole raised on tapering carved and reeded legs. The tops of the legs with carved blocks with sun-flower head paterae .

In excellent original condition with no damage or repairs. Has been recently re-covered in a quality fabric with piped-edge detail .
Has achieved a rich period style patina and colour .
An elegant mahogany armchair of bold proportion and scale.
