Gerald Cooper 1898-1975.Exh 1928-40.He took up painting after the First World War, in which he was a pilot.He painted landscapes, figurative and still life paintings of flowers, which he went on to specialise in, growing most of the flowers in the garden.He captured the lighting, texture and colours of his subjects particularly well, reminiscent of the Dutch old Masters.He lived in Chelsea, London in 1928 Wimbledon in 1933, where he taught art at the Wimbledon School of Art, and East Horsley in Surrey in 1933.He exhibited the RA,New English Art Club and Walker Art Gallery Liverpool.''Flowers of Spring'' signed oil on board, image size 61x51cms, overall framed size 80x70cms ; provenence with E.Stacy-Marks Ltd.
