Fantastic Victorian mahogany military campaign bed c.1870. Of ingenious patented design by Robinsons & Sons of Ilkley it can be used flat or raised to various positions at both ends to make a very comfortable chaise longue or daybed. The frame hinges in the centre and the legs unscrew so it would take up minimum space in an officer’s baggage train. Superb quality with solid mahogany frame, brass hinges each stamped for Robinsons, coiled steel webbing and the original brass castors (also stamped) with rubberised wheels. Brass and enamel maker’s labels to the underside. Some repairs to the webbing, otherwise excellent condition. Sold with a long seat pad and two matching cushions in a yellow and blue striped fabric.
