English Victorian Diamond Shaped Sterling Silver Pill Box

Description

A most unusual diamond shaped pill box made from English sterling silver with a full hallmark on the underside for Birmingham 1897 together with the maker's initials for J Wilmot.

The sides and domed lid are beautifully decorated with a repousse or embossed design with crimped edges; the lid has a central circular vacant cartouche (fine little scratch to the cartouche, insignificant but mentioned for accuracy).

The hinged lid fits perfectly and tight and once opened reveals a lavishly gilded interior.

Excellent condition measuring 2 1/8" x 1 5/8" x 1 1/8" tall.
