M Lees and Sons has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
. The rectangular weighted plinth bases with a simply moulded top edge, surmounted by ebonised 'split' baluster turned mouldings to form rests to house chargers of varied diameters at different angles .

The broad strut back supports having a raked angle. The edges of the struts with a sophisticated carved 'egg-and-dart' detail .
Similar stands were produced by the esteemed cabinet-making firm of Gillows of Lancaster and London. (Examples can be seen in Susan E. Stuart "Gillows of Lancaster & London " , Vol .II p.119 , plate 669.)
Excellent original condition , colour and patination.
