Puckerings has dated this piece to the Edwardian era.
Made from English sterling silver standing on three elegant legs, the lid is of course what makes this highly desirable and collectable, inset with a large piece of period Tortoise Shell with a glossy patina showcasing the tapestry of markings ranging from golden champagne to rich chocolate brown.

The hinged lid fits well and once opened reveals a beautifully lined interior in yellow silk, clean, fresh and ready for many years of use.
The silver is fully hallmarked for the highly collectable Chester assay office and the year 1907, making this an Edwardian example and a true antique, 110 years old. The makers initials are also present for the well renowned silversmith, James Deakin and Sons.
Excellent condition and an impressive large size, measuring 5" x 5 1/2" x 2 3/4" tall.
