Quiet Street Antiques of Bath has dated this piece to the Regency era.
It is raised on a solid turned rosewood column, with reeded knop and petal collar, leading to a triform base and solid rosewood shaped bun feet. 30ins high; 16ins wide. (76 x 40.5cms)

These tables were used to plant small bulbs (such as crocuses) in soil, which remained dormant. A couple of weeks prior to an important party or ball. the top would be removed, the bulbs watered and they would then flower in time for the important occasion!
