Description

An exceptional quality French marquetry inlaid escritoire writing cabinet. The fall is beautifully inlaid with musical instruments and the drawers with a scroll leaf design made up of various coloured woods. The cabinet has dyed bird's-eye maple wood veneers and is finished with feather banded tulip wood around the edges of the cabinet and drawers.

Inside, the cabinet is veneered in dyed bird's-eye maple and the drawers are veneered in tulip wood. The writing surface has a tan coloured leather with a decoratively engraved lock.

The escritoire is finished with very good quality bronze gilt ormolu mounts and moulds and still retains its original white Carrara marble top.

All the locks are original and are in full working order. All five drawers are oak lined.
