Antique Furniture Direct has dated this piece to the Edwardian era.
It has a brass lock to the interior which is stamped “John Shaw and Sons Wolverhampton”. The hinged lid lifts to reveal a large amount of storage space to the inside. In well-figured oak with good colour and patina. With a few splits across the top which have been filled with wax.
