Exceptional quality C19th mahogany armchair in the C18th Chippendale revival style.

Superior C19th copy of an important mid C18th Chippendale period mahogany framed armchair. Rich, deep period style carving and patina , excellent grade of selected dense mahogany.

The intricately-carved open splat with honeysuckle motif centre , and flower head carving to the top-rail . Raised on shaped cabriole legs with acanthus leaf-carved knees, carved claw-and-ball feet , the seat with carved front rail detail . The drop-in seat upholstered in well-aged leather adding to the period style ambience. Out-swept shaped arms with carved leaf and scroll detail .

Excellent desk or reading armchair in strong , sturdy condition.

Some wear and fading to the polish of the arms , but overall a deep , consistent patination.

A generously proportioned desk or library armchair .
