Fabulous Figural Equestrian Magnifying Glass C.1900

Description

A most unusual and highly decorative magnifying glass made from silver plate and probably continental (perhaps French) in origin.

The heavy metallic handle is modelled in the form of a racing horse's head and then decorated with stylised foliage on a naturalistic background; this design is continued around the frame of the glass on both sides.

The glass is convex with a wonderful clean and undamaged surface and a strong magnification creating an extremely usable and useful desk-top accessory.

Lovely quality and condition measuring 9" x 4". Dating to around 1900.
