Victorian Railway Lamp by Eli Griffiths

Description

Circa 1880 - 1910 - this is a late Victorian candle lit lamp, most likely for Railway use, and was made by the firm Eli Griffiths and Son who were well known for manufacturing items for railways and shipping.

This lamp was always made for candles and not oil, and consequently we date it to around the late 19th Century. The lamp measures 35cm in height and the base is 19cm in diameter. It is in good condition, and it still has the original glass, and a very worn wooden handle. The handle itself measures 15cm in length by 13cm in width.

On the front of the lamp the brass company label clearly reads: ELI GRIFFITHS
