18th C. French Vernis-martin Lacquer Hand Painted Bonbonniere

A superb French Vernis-Martin lacquer & gilt metal mounted bonbonniere c.1790 the cover decorated with a hand painted scene on ivory in incredible detail depicting the battle of Blenheim in 1704, finished with a glass cover. The body of the box is lacquered and finished with floral decoration including the underside and the interior is tortoiseshell lined; some slight wear to the lacquer around the body otherwise this stunning box is in excellent condition measuring 4 inches in diameter.
