Early Oak Carved Bible Box. Circa 1700

17th century
Description

Good early oak bible box with well carved front also bearing its original iron lock plate. The edges all chip carved. Unfortunately the lid has been cracked into two at some time and repaired with thin bars underneath. Fine iron hinges. Wonderful rich colour with great waxed patina - it glows.

Size; 24" wide, 16" deep, 9" high.
