Description

An antique English silver pocket watch, 1886.

The watch has a key-wound movement which is working nicely. A winding key is included. The movement is protected by an inner fitted cover.

The watch itself measures 52mm diameter excluding the stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the case back for Chester 1886 together with a case maker’s mark for the Coventry based silversmith Frank Willday. There is a patch of marking to the back and side of the case, between 12 and 3, which suggests something was repeatedly knocking on the watch while it was in the owner’s pocket, perhaps the key on a chain. Other than that, the case is in good condition, just a small “ding” on the bezel.

The watch glass is in good order.

The white enamel dial has a short hairline crack just underneath number 4 but otherwise is in good condition.

The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.
