Elmgarden has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
This Mahogany Marquetry Chest is a very rare piece, it has the classic bombe shape of a Louis XV commode but this one is larger than usual and has 3 drawers, it stands on sabre shaped legs and has a serpentine shaped front and sides.

The chest inlay is a woven decoration with matched veneers in King Wood, Tulip Wood and Box, the marble top is made from “Brocatelle Violette” which is breccia marble only quarried in France.
The Chest is Ash lined and very sturdy, it is in good condition both inside and out but there are some very small chips to the veneers, and we have the key to the top drawer

The chest is 49” long, 21” deep and 35” high
