Solid Silver Card Case - Nathanial Mills

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: The Silver Cabinet

This is a gorgeous example of a solid sterling silver card case by the highly collectable silversmith, Nathanial Mills.

It is clearly hallmarked for Birmingham 1846 and is heavily decorated. The beautiful foliate embossed decoration surrounds the central figure of the Roman God Apollo leaning on his lyre. I suspect this is one of a series of ''Roman God'' designs, as I notice two others on the Sellingantiques site. There is a vacant cartouche on the reverse.

The silver is in excellent condition.
