Scottish Victorian Petit Point Large Tapestry Picture. Circa 1860

19th century
Description

Fine and important Scottish Victorian large framed tapestry picture working in petit point using both wool and silk. Image depicts Mary Queen of Scots being married to Lord Darnley and the gifting of the crown matrimonial to Darnley. The Countess of Lennox (Darley's mother) sits at the table. Various courtiers and religious figures are kneeing to the left. All set in Holyrood Palace, Edinburgh. The tapestry has wonderful un-faded colours and is in perfect condition. Minor chips to frame.

Size; 46" high, 40" wide.
